Business Advisory Services Case Studies
Brewing a successful solution
A beverage wholesaler wanted to purchase specialty equipment to help broaden their product offering. AGH worked with the company as both its CFO and Controller at different stages of the purchase process. As an outsourced CFO, we met with our client to talk about how they hoped the equipment would improve their business, and then ran the numbers to determine whether the purchase would help attain our client's goals. Once it was clear that the equipment was a worthy investment, AGH helped explain its benefits to bankers and negotiated a favorable loan. Our firm acted as Controller during these negotiations, putting cash flow projections and other statements together that lenders required. The bottom line: The new equipment is a boon to business, and the favorable interest rate AGH helped negotiate made the equipment more affordable.
From start-up to sale
AGH started working with an interactive advertising and marketing agency in its infancy. Along with the owners, we identified start-up capital needs and each partner's niche in order to get the business going. Then we guided them in their formative years, establishing cash flow models to gauge profit margins and acting in a CFO role on a monthly basis to help manage books and records. After several years, one partner wanted to move on to a new venture, so we helped facilitate an exit strategy that worked for all parties. Several years later, the remaining partners decided it was time to sell. AGH helped negotiate on behalf of our clients and provided reliable figures for the buyers. The bottom line: After starting the company and growing it with a small capital investment, the owners recognized enough from the sale to retire in their 30's.

Making the right plans
After being in business for two years, the owners of an event planning company came to AGH looking to take their business to the next level. We facilitated a discussion allowing the partners identify their business roles and understand financial statements better so they can use them to make key decisions. We continue to work with them on a quarterly basis to help them stick to their goals or adjust them if need be. The owners now have a thorough understanding of financial statements, the budgeting process, and how to hold each other and their employees accountable as they track the actual monthly results compared to the budget. The end result has been a more rewarding personal and financial experience for all involved.
Digging out from under a bad IT system
A home builder came to AGH to find out why it was having so many financial surprises. It turned out that the company’s antiquated technology made it difficult to track increasingly complex costs. AGH identified more sophisticated software and helped incorporate it into the builder’s technology system, making it possible for the company to better track where it spends its money and get a handle on spiraling costs.
