The right fiscal exam
A cardiology practice came to AGH with a fiscal dilemma: The practice was busier than ever, yet the office was making substantially less money. AGH sent in a team of bookkeepers to go over current and past financial records. Then, accountants with deep healthcare expertise examined what had changed over the years. The results: The doctors were billing fewer services than they had years ago. Armed with this information, the physicians and their office managers were able to decide whether they wanted to work longer hours or scale back the number of patients the practice sees.
A compensation check-up
Helping medical practices determine the best compensation system isn’t always easy. AGH stepped in to help one practice after discrepancies in payments to the doctors was causing a rift between the physicians. AGH analyzed the revenue per patient, based on each specialty in the office, as well as each doctor’s cash flow contributions to the practice. Based on that information, we were able to create a fair and equitable compensation system.
Building a secure practice
AGH works closely with medical practices to establish internal financial controls so physicians can rest assured that their businesses are running smoothly and securely and so they can focus on practicing medicine. For one practice, AGH came to the rescue after an office manager had stolen from the business. AGH put procedures in place to safeguard the assets; our bookkeepers now handle the company’s accounting records and our experienced accountants do regular check-ups to make sure the business is healthy.
A new IT prescription
Many clinics and physician practices often grapple with reconciling bank statements against insurance reimbursements and collections. AGH helps connect healthcare clients to IT providers—and works with both parties during the entire process—to implement systems that make this process easier.
